Overview

Historian, storyteller, and 7th generation farmer’s son Duane Fitzsimons comes from a long line of Irish, Viking, Norman, Scots, and Manx indelibly linked to this area. Born and bred in the small rural town of Ardglass his family roots are deeply imbedded in the legend of Saint Patrick and the efforts to keep the story alive. Boasting an ancestry that is active in the ancient tale, Duane is fascinated with the story of Patrick, Celtic folklore, and the innate beauty of the County Down landscape.

Walk with Duane through one of Ireland’s most ancient landscapes on a journey of discovery from Celtic to Christianity in the home of Saint Patrick. This 5th century landscape is filled with history and traditions of people past and present, kept alive through people like Duane, who loves to share the folklore and stories which have been passed through his family for generations. Starting from the shore of Lough Money, Duane takes you along old and ancient lanes and pathways, which Patrick would have roamed and culminates at the stunning vista of Strangford Lough, the site where Saint Patrick landed and made his first conversion to Christianity.
